Jon Halle

Jon’s early career was spent working for a number of environmental causes, including land rights, small scale renewables and low impact living, while supporting himself as a self-employed IT consultant. This led to a 2 year period as CTO of Citipages Ltd, an internet start-up.

In 2003 Jon co-founded Goldenfuels, a worker co-operative making biodiesel from waste oils, providing training courses and writing the best-selling book on grassroots fuel production.

Jon was appointed by Energy4All to run the Sharenergy project in July 2008 and has had a hands-on involvement in every aspect of the project, working with community groups to identify possible projects and bringing them forward to eventual installation. Sharenergy is now an independent co-op within the Energy4All family of co-ops, providing support to new and existing grass-roots community energy co-ops across the UK. Jon is a founder director and staff member at Sharenergy.coop.
