Replicating Community Social Enterprise Hubs with Bricks and Bread
Bricks and Bread is one of the fastest growing social enterprises in sustainable business.
The first Centre and head office is based in Aldershot, it is a multi facet business based on the principle of sharing expert knowledge that people have acquired through practical experience, to help improve the community, the economy and the environment through sustainable living. The Centre is run as a zero carbon business with a zero waste to landfill policy.
Trudy Thompson created this business without relying on any grants and funding because she was determined to help people learn and adapt to a low carbon society. To do this she shared her expertise and enabled people to collaborate in projects and events at the Centre. The business provides services in the following areas; events, expert advice, skills training, waste reuse, incubating businesses.
Whilst the Bricks and Bread parent company is a CIC and operates on the basis that all its income is used for community benefit, franchisees have the option to operate as social enterprises as well as profit driven businesses.
