10:10's Solar School Project Goes National!
10:10’s Solar Schools project is going national! http://www.solarschools.org.uk/apply And the deadline for applications is Monday 14th May.
Last year, the carbon cutting organisation 10:10 http://www.1010uk.org/ dreamed up a way for schools to install solar panels http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2012/apr/30/schools-solar-power-climate-change-community by raising money from their communities. Seven months on, they've shown it's possible http://www.1010global.org/uk/2012/04/schools-made-it-happen with five solar rigs installed, over £75,000 raised, communities brought together and other carbon-cutting efforts boosted in the process. Now it's time to go bigger. 10:10 is rolling the project out nationwide!
Since they opened their doors last week, applications have been flooding in (thanks to the Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2012/apr/30/schools-solar-power-climate-change-community for their lovely piece on the project!) and there is now just a few days left to get schools involved. Schools can head to www.solarschools.org.uk/apply to find out more and fill out a basic form. After that, someone from the team will get in touch to talk them through the project and work out if it's right for them!
10:10 want to make sure that as many schools as possible get a chance to apply - if you're able to help them publicise it that would would be hugely appreciated - our tweet is here https://twitter.com/#!/1010/status/200570016201060352.
